Gossip Girl Wikipedia
Gossip Girl is an American teen drama series based on the book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The series was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, and premiered on The CW on September 19, 2007. Narrated by the omniscient yet unseen blogger "Gossip Girl", voiced by Kristen Bell, the series revolves around the lives of privileged young adults on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York City.
The series begins with the return of Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) from a mysterious stay at a boarding school in Cornwall, Connecticut. Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), whom creators describe as the queen at the center of their chess game, is a longtime friend and occasional rival of Serena's, and the Queen Bee of Constance Billard School's social scene. The story also follows Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), the bad boy of the Upper East Side, Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Chuck's best friend, and other characters of the turbulent Manhattan scene: Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), Nate's friend and Serena's on-again, off-again ex; Vanessa Abrams (Jessica Szohr), Dan's best friend; and Dan's sister, Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen).
Gossip Girl IMDB
Welcome to New York's Upper East side where the wealthy and connected mingle at benefits and try to deal with their always dramatic love lives, not to mention picking colleges. Blair Waldorf is the so-called toast of adolescence in her world; she and her friends, Kati Farkas and Isabel Coates, go to a prep school and fancy parties with their rich parents. Blair is envied by her adversaries because she is thought to have the perfect life, not just because of her gorgeous boyfriend, Nate Archibald, but because she's also planning on getting into her dream college, Yale. With everyone worried about college(or procrastinating on worrying, which everyone seems to be doing), and senior year dragging along, her seemingly perfect life is interrupted by her ex-best friend, the beautiful Serena van der Woodsen, coming back into town after getting kicked out of boarding school. Serena comes back into her life...

Gossip Girl delves into the world of upper-class privilege and wealth of prep school teens on Manhattan's Upper East Side -- a world where secrets are hard to keep with the all-knowing Gossip Girl (voiced by Kristen Bell), a blogger with an unknown identity, following and recording their every move.
The Upper East Side is thrown for a loop when Gossip Girl reports that Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Manhattan's most notorious party girl, has arrived back in town after a mysterious absence where no one knows where she was or why she left. Not even Serena's closest friend, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), knew her whereabouts and is shocked to learn Serena has returned. However, their once close friendship is complicated upon Serena's return, strained now that Serena is the center of attention and Blair has been cast from the limelight, and the revelation that Serena had a fling with Blair's boyfriend Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford).
Also ruling the Upper East Side is Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), son of the wealthy and powerful Bart Bass and a friend of Nate's since childhood. Chuck leads a reckless life, which often leads Nate down a similar path of darkness and destruction.
Lastly there's Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) and his sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen), middle-class kids on the outside looking in on the exclusive wealthy clique. Dan and Jenny are forced to attend the school by their former rock star father, Rufus (Matthew Settle), who has a tumultuous past with Serena's mother Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford), a socialite with a secret past as a groupie. However, Dan and Serena's worlds collide following a chance meeting where Dan quickly finds himself dating the girl of his dreams. The closer they become, the more Dan learns about the real Serena and how different she is from the world in which she lives.
With all of the ever-changing drama in the lives of the teenagers and adults alike, the ever-present Gossip Girl is always around to keep up on the complex and intriguing world
