Californication Wikipedia
Californication is an American comedy-drama that premiered on Showtime on August 13, 2007. The show was created by Tom Kapinos. The protagonist, Hank Moody (David Duchovny), is a troubled novelist whose move to California, coupled with his writer's block, complicates his relationships with his long time girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone) and daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin). Californication's other main characters are Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler), Marcy Runkle (Pamela Adlon), and Mia Cross (Madeline Zima). The show has been nominated and won several awards, including winning one Emmy Award (nominated for two others) and one Golden Globe Award (nominated for three others). Californication has aired for three complete seasons. Due to strong ratings for the third season premiere, Showtime renewed the show early for a fourth season. Season four began filming in April 2010 and premiered January 9, 2011 at 9:00PM ET (8PM CT.). On January 14, 2011, the show was renewed for a fifth season.
Californication IMDB
Hank Moody may be a talented author, despite his gift of the gab, especially for live seducing, his private life is a mess. Repeated attempts to have a stable relationship with Karen, also for the sake of their daughter Becca, fail because of their extreme libertarian infidelity. Hank's sexual appetite also infects talent agent Charlie Runkle, who indulges in all kinds of naughtiness too. More 'victims of hormones' contribute to the lustily lust-loaded plot.

Californication TV Rage
Californication is the story of Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny. Hank is a novelist who has recently moved to Los Angeles, which complicates his relationship with Karen, his ex-girlfriend, whom he still has feelings for and Becca, his 12-year-old daughter.
The show has been met with mixed reactions, leaning towards a more favorable position by most. The majority of those opposed to the show and it's explicit nature of drug and sex-laden scenes are that of the conservative groups. These groups, namely those found in Australia and New Zealand, have attempted to boycott the networks and the shows advertisers.
The first season of Californication ran from August until late October. The pilot episode was released early to Netflix subscribers on July 24th, helping to gain viewers at an early stage. Before the first season had wrapped up, Californication was renewed for a second season in early September by Showtime
